MoU signed between GGN and DNPWC

On 16th March, 2016, Director General of Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC) Mr. Fanindra Kharel and Chairperson of Green Governance Nepal (GGN) Mr. Kiran Timalsina signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to add value in biodiversity conservation, mitigating human wildlife conflict, livelihood enhancement and research study by implementing field projects in protected areas including buffer zone.

In the same occasion, Mr. Kharel and Dr. Alexendra Zimmermann, Head of Conservation Science at Chester Zoo (UK) and Research Associate at Oxford University jointly inaugurated the field office for Living with Tigers project at Hakim Chowk, Baratpur. The Living with Tigers project aims to take a participatory and preventative approach to resolving human-tiger conflict and improving wellbeing in 4 hotspots around Chitwan and Bardia National Parks. It will implement alternative livelihood activities, preventive measures, capacity building of local users and BZ institution to minimize the loss and damage by Tiger and leopards thereby contributing to increase the tolerance level of communities towards these rare and endangered wild animals.
